Energy Conversion and Storage Cluster

In a sustainable energy supply, the conversion of electrical energy into chemical energy for reliable storage is indispensable. In electrochemical process engineering, coupled conversion processes of substances and forms of energy are investigated experimentally, simulated and evaluated. Important aspects are the elucidation of fundamental processes, the minimization of conversion losses, technical feasibility and economic and ecological evaluation. Objects of investigation are, for example, innovative accumulators, such as vanadium redox flow and metal-air batteries, as well as power-to-x systems, such as water electrolysis and methanation.
