Material Functionalisation Cluster

The targeted modification of the properties of surfaces through the use of ultrashort pulse lasers is a promising approach to increasing the efficiency of diverse energy technologies. The laser-structured surfaces created by these processes enable the targeted and permanent modification of material properties, such as increasing the specific surface area or adjusting the wetting behaviour towards liquids The targeted use and combination of such structured materials already shows a high innovation and efficiency potential in the fields of hydrogen technology and heat transfer. The aim of the Material Functionalisation Cluster is to further develop existing technology concepts and implement new technological approaches for energy conversion processes.
