Spanish doctoral students collaborate with TU Clausthal on electrochemical technology

The Institute of Chemical and Electrochemical Process Engineering (ICVT) and the Research Center for Energy Storage Technologies (EST) hosted two doctoral students from Spain for training stays at Energy Campus Goslar.

The visitors, Ms. Inmaculada García López and Mr. Antonio Jesús Molina Serrano, are PhD candidates at Universidad Complutense de Madrid (UCM) and at the Institute of Carbon Materials (ICB) from the Spanish National Research Council (CSIC), respectively. Their visits have initiated collaborations with TU Clausthal on electrochemical technology. Ms. García López develops fractal and organic-like microreactors for low-cost water treatment, while Mr. Molina Serrano synthesizes nanostructured carbon electrodes for improved flow batteries. The activities were guided by Dr. Luis Fernando Arenas, a Humboldt Research Fellow experienced in cell design and energy storage, and the visit was sponsored by institute director Prof. Thomas Turek. These visits contribute to strengthen the research network of TU Clausthal in the trendy fields of environmental and energy applications of electrochemical engineering.
